The Celebrity Edge is one of the most innovative cruise ships at sea, with features that will wow any travel group

Celebrity Cruises’ transformative ship, the Celebrity Edge, set sail for the first time in 2018 and has been enticing travelers and cruise fanatics ever since. Creating a closer connection to the sea, the Celebrity Edge features unique innovations created by internationally renowned interior designers and global architects. Offering more than 40 different itineraries around the globe, the Celebrity Edge is definitely one to consider about for a future cruise group.

The Magic Carpet – The World’s First

The Iconic Magic Carpet

The Magic Carpet is a cantilevered platform that moves up and down on the side of the Celebrity Edge. Designed by innovative architect Tom Wright of WKK, the platform is the size of a tennis court and can rise from sea level all the way up to Deck 16.

Not only does the Magic Carpet serve as a lounge-type tender embarkation area for guests who are taken ashore via the sleek Edge Launches (when the ship is anchored rather than docked), but it features some additional experiences. One is Dinner on the Edge, providing a unique dining experience for up to 90 guests when the Magic Carpet is at Deck 16. When at Deck 5, it provides alfresco seating for all the restaurants. Magic Carpet becomes an extension of the pool area when alongside Deck 14.

The Celebrity Edge Rooftop Garden – Carefree Urban Playscape

Part of the asymmetrical pool deck area (also designed by Tom Wright of WKK) features the Rooftop Garden. Amidst artificial designer trees and live greenery, guests can relax and enjoy the theme of connection to the sea. The resort (pool) deck chaise lounges face outward and overlook the ocean. On one side of the deck the cabanas have soaring ceilings. During the day guests can enjoy scenic views and live music. The Rooftop Garden Grill provides gourmet burgers, barbecue and briskets. At night, the Rooftop Garden transforms into a venue for live music, movie and meal pairings that are part of Celebrity’s Taste of Film.

The Celebrity Edge Stateroom with Infinity Veranda

To create more space with a greater connection to the sea, Celebrity Cruises has come up with something new – the Edge stateroom with infinity veranda. Rather than having a steel superstructure that normally would enclose the veranda, Celebrity incorporates the veranda into the actual room itself. Styled like an elegant French door, the veranda door can actually slide open, making the veranda a seamless part of the room. Another feature? When the veranda door is closed (creating a separate veranda area), the top of a floor-to-ceiling outside window can be lowered to let in fresh air. And this is all at the touch of a button.

The innovative design also addresses what people tend to want and have asked for – more storage, larger bathrooms and more living area, along with a closer connection to the sea. Staterooms are 23 percent larger than Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice-class veranda staterooms.

On Celebrity Edge, there are 918 Edge staterooms with infinity verandas. And 16 of these will be for solo travelers.

Two New Suite Categories

Two new categories of suites were being introduced on the Celebrity Edge – the Iconic Suites and Edge Villas. At 1,880 square feet inside, plus a private sprawling terrace, the Iconic Suites are Celebrity Cruises’ largest. And the Edge Villas, which are 950 spacious square feet of split-level ambiance, can accommodate up to four guests. With soaring windows and private plunge pools, guests also have direct access to an exclusive pool and sundeck.

Talent Behind the Transformational Design

Celebrity Cruises brought in renowned designers and architects to create the Celebrity Edge. In addition to visionary architect Tom Wright of WKK, the line worked with internationally renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen of Kelly Hoppen Interiors. American designer Nate Berkus serves as the design ambassador for the Celebrity Edge.
