Southern Africa: Wine, Wildlife & Victoria Falls

As one of Goway Travel’s Top 10 Picks for 2026-2027, this 11-day Africa itinerary has everything you’d want in a swing through the southern part of the world’s second-largest continent. From sophisticated urban centers to tracking wild game in the bush and witnessing one of earth’s great natural wonders, “Southern Africa: Wine, Wildlife and Victoria Falls” packs in a lifetime’s worth of adventures.

Your tour of South Africa begins in Cape Town. Set against the backdrop of majestic Table Mountain, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Goway guests stay four nights at the Table Bay Hotel, located in the heart of the recently restored Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the hub of Cape Town’s picturesque working harbor. Within walking distance are some of the city’s top restaurants, shops and cultural attractions.

Cape Town sightseeing highlights include a cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain and the Malay Quarter with its cobblestone streets, mosques and flat-roofed pastel houses. A dinner on Day 2 at the Gold Restaurant features interactive Djembe drumming and a 14-dish African feast with entertainment.

From Cape Town, a full-day Cape Peninsula tour travels through charming fishing villages on the scenic drive to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. On a cruise to Seal Island, you’ll see colonies of Cape Fur Seals sunning on rocky outcrops. After lunch in Simons Town, head to Boulder Beach, where you can sit among a colony of African penguins. Another full-day tour visits the lush valleys of the Cape Winelands for tasting sessions at wine estates.

In the Greater Kruger National Park area, wildlife-watching safaris and luxury lodge accommodations await Goway travelers the next two days at Kapama Private Game Reserve. It is home to more than 40 mammal species, including the Big Five—elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhinoceros.

During a two-night stay in Johannesburg’s ultra-luxurious InterContinental Sandton Sun & Towers, tour members have direct access to Sandton City, an exclusive shopping complex, and visit the sprawling Soweto community. Sights in Soweto include:

  • Nelson Mandela House
  • A church that served as a site of secret meetings when political parties were banned
  • The Apartheid Museum, which illustrates the struggles to overthrow apartheid, the state-sanctioned system based on racial discrimination

The next two days are devoted to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. Twice the size of Niagara Falls, it is the largest sheet of water of any falls in the world.  Besides experiencing the mighty roar of Victoria Falls, Goway guests enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.

“Southern Africa: Wine, Wildlife and Victoria Falls” concludes with a flight back to Johannesburg and the trip home.

Ghana with Goway

Explore Ghana: Accra, Elmina and Kumasi

Start your nine-day Ghana adventure in Accra, the capital. You’ll enjoy luxury accommodations at the African Regent Hotel, distinguished by its contemporary design and traditional African elements. Your home for three nights is located a short distance from Accra Shopping Center and near Tetteh Quarshie Art Market.

Touring Accra on Day 2 of “Explore Ghana,” you’ll see:

  • Artiste Alliance Gallery
  • E.B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture
  • National Museum of Ghana
  • Independence/Black Star Square
  • Arts Center, an open-air market bursting with goods from Ghana and West Africa, including bolts of colorful fabrics

At a village on the Volta River, Goway guests pay a courtesy call on the chief and elders amidst traditional drumming and dancing by villagers. The group participates in a ceremony in which each member receives a Ghanian name and a gift as part of celebrating a new identity as a Ghanian and member of the local community. Touring a bead factory, you can see how beads are made and make your own beads to take home.

On Day 4, Goway travelers visit Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving rainforests. They can choose from a canopy walk high above the rainforest floor or a nature walk to discover the exotic species of flora and fauna. After lunch, visit Cape Coast Castle to learn about the trans-Atlantic slave trade and stand in dungeons to experience the conditions millions of Africans endured.

In a cooking class the next day, travelers learn to create authentic Ghanaian dishes like fufu, groundnut soup, fried plantain, palava sauce and red red, and then enjoy eating what they’ve prepared. Afterwards, visit Elmina Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482, for more slave trade history. Then meet the fishermen and fishmongers in the fishing village of Elmina.

In Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire, visit Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain firsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom, a regal history that dates back to 1700. Enjoy a drive through the city with monuments dedicated to the memory of the great Ashanti people. End the day in Kumasi at the National Cultural Center, which features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of the brass makers, potters and batik makers. The following day is spent in the three famous Ashanti craft villages, where artisans demonstrate wood carving, weaving and cloth making.

The final day of “Explore Ghana” offers a choice of two options in Accra. Tour members can interact with students at a school for the deaf or learn hair wrapping techniques at a salon.
