Consistently voted one of the best ski destinations in the Midwest, Lutsen Mountains is constantly striving to add new and convenient features for groups. This includes the resort’s newest investment: the 8-passenger Summit Express Gondola. The $7 million Doppelmayr lift whisks guests from the base area to the peak of Moose Mountain, one of the tallest points in Minnesota. Plush seating and panoramic windows make for a comfortable and scenic ride with views of the resorts four mountains, the Popular River and Lake Superior.
Once at the top, guests can explore the terrain on skis, snowboards and snowshoes in the wintertime, with plenty of naturally occurring and artificial snow to provide ample traction. In warmer months, groups can hike on short scenic trails that include overlooks of the surrounding Superior National Forest. Of course, your party will find plenty to enjoy at the Summit Chalet, located at the top of Moose Mountain and provider of excellent hot and cold food options. Group leaders can reserve a gondola and lunch package that includes hot soup and sandwiches, and the facility is also available to rent for weddings and other celebrations.
