Spring Green and La Crosse

Day 3: Spring Green and La Crosse — Architecture and Imagination

Tour Taliesin in Spring Green, Frank Lloyd Wright’s renowned home, studio, and estate. Groups will learn how the Driftless landscape influenced his revolutionary designs.

Day 5: Lake Superior and Bayfield — Islands, Orchards and Coastal Scenery

Begin the day with a stop at Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland. This center features exhibits interpreting Lake Superior’s ecology, maritime history, regional cultures, and dramatic northern landscape.

Take an Apostle Islands Grand Tour where you will cruise among the Apostle Islands to see historic lighthouses, sandstone cliffs, sea caves, and the remarkable Lake Superior shoreline. The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is one of Wisconsin’s most spectacular natural wonders. Located on Lake Superior, the 21 islands off the mainland coast are home to red sandstone sea caves, picturesque lighthouses, hidden shipwrecks, and many more impressive sights.

Day 6: Green Bay — Wildlife, Railroads and Packers

At Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo & Safari, groups will enjoy close-up encounters with native and exotic animals in a wooded Northwoods setting near Minocqua.

Then, visit the National Railroad Museum, where you will explore historic locomotives, passenger cars, and railroad exhibits, with a seasonal train ride available for groups.

Explore Cana Island Lighthouse, Door County’s most iconic lighthouse, built in 1869 and celebrating more than 150 years of standing watch on the shore of Lake Michigan. Ride a haywagon over the causeway to explore the island, including the 89-foot-tall tower, the original home of the lighthouse keeper and his family, and the oil house where fuel for the light was stored. The highlight of any Cana Island visit is climbing the 97 steps of the tower’s spiral staircase to reach the gallery deck. The outside deck delivers a sweeping view of Lake Michigan and the Door County peninsula.

Next, visit Door Peninsula Winery, where groups can sample locally produced wines and fruit-inspired specialties during a group tasting in a historic former schoolhouse.

Then, enjoy a show at Peninsula Players Theatre. Conclude the tour with a professional theatrical production at America’s oldest resident summer theater, beautifully situated along Green Bay.
