Top 5 Places To Go Off-Roading in The United States

Affinity Travel

The great outdoors is where the most exciting activities take place. Something as simple as driving a car becomes the adventure of a lifetime when the environment is right. But before you plan your first off-roading trip, make sure you avoid common mistakes. If jumping into a Jeep Wrangler and exploring the wilderness sounds like your idea of a good time, then what’s stopping you from planning your next vacation? These are the top five places to go off-roading in the United States.

Mt. Morris, Michigan

Since opening in 1971, the Monds ORV Area continues its quest of bringing thrills to the whole family. Located in the Great Lake State, this area is the premier site for all off-roading activities in Michigan.

Moab, Utah

Moab is home to the annual Moab Jeep Safari, as well as the Moab Adventure Center. With campgrounds, ranch resorts, hotels, and countless vacation rental options in the area, there’s no shortage of opportunities for you to book your stay. In addition, you can discover an assortment of great trails to conquer, and the Rocky Mountains provide the perfect backdrop for your journey.

Hollister Hills, California

The Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area is one of many great off-roading parks in California. The San Andreas Fault divides the two off-roading trails into separate tectonic plates: Upper Ranch and Hudner Ranch.

Upper Ranch, containing 24 miles of trails, is on the higher Pacific Plate. Expect steep terrain, grainy soil, and plants such as pine and sage when riding there. You’ll find Hudner Ranch on the lower North American tectonic plate, which gives it adobe clay-rich soil and grasslands covering its rolling hills.

Punta Gorda, Florida

The southernmost entry on our list of the top five places to go off-roading in the United States is in Punta Gorda, Florida. Featuring the infamous Redneck Yacht Club and The Sandlot, Punta Gorda is a great destination for off-roading because of its warm climate year-round and beautiful natural scenery.

Azusa, California

Finishing out our list is the Azusa Canyon in California. Be prepared for mud! The San Gabriel Mountains surround the area with deep bogs nearby. Plenty of off-roading excitement is available at this Golden State gem.
