As a holiday destination, Tenerife has always stayed on top of the lists, and for several good reasons, like its stunning beaches and endless activities. The island has so much to offer that it can easily overwhelm you, especially if you’re visiting Tenerife with friends. Most people don’t know where to start, but don’t worry! The Canary Island is a paradise full of adventure, fun, and unforgettable experiences to share as a group. From spectacular parks to dreamy beaches, here are five group plans that never fail.
1. Loro Parque
The first thing you need to do with your friends is visit Loro Parque, twice named the best in the world by TripAdvisor. Why? It’s an incredible way to start your journey, this place is much more than just a zoo: it’s a nature conservation center home to more than 40,000 animals of 400 different species.
The zoo has a lot to offer, from replicas of ecosystems from all five continents to seeing orcas, dolphins, sea lions, and parrots up close during educational shows. The park also has rest areas and restaurants to make the day perfect, as well as more than 8 different immersive experiences. What better plan than a visit to Loro Parque to enjoy nature while learning and having fun with your friends?
You can easily spend a full day here, but many people combine it with other activities. That will depend on your holiday plan. Just make sure you book the tickets in advance; it can get crazy during high season.
2. Siam Water Park
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about the Canary Islands is sun, water, and fun! And there’s no better place than Siam Park for that, a water park that has been voted the best in the world ten times by Tripadvisor, and for good reason.
It’s the place to go if you’re looking for adrenaline and a refreshing dip. The park offers several attractions, waterslides, and pools. You will find there iconic attractions like an almost vertical slide called “The Tower of Power” and a huge wave pool titled “The Wave Palace”.
Situated on the southern side of the island in Costa Adeje, a visit to Siam Park guaranteed fun. Plus, the park’s Thai atmosphere, with its palm trees and exotic architecture, will make you feel like you’re on another continent.
3. Teide Excursion
There’s no visit to the island complete until you visit Spain’s highest peak: Mount Teide. You can’t leave Tenerife without visiting it, whether it is a relaxing and scenic cable car ride to the summit (approximately 3,555 meters) or a hike on one of its many trails, it sure is a unique experience, with breathtaking views.
The Teide National Park is home to a unique flora and fauna, and the volcanic formations and lunar landscapes make for epic photos. And if you go at night, you can book an astronomy tour! Tenerife’s skies are one of the best in the world for stargazing.
If you go, make sure to check out Roques de Garcia, which is the most popular rock formation in the park and is only 5 km from the cable car. Pair that adventure with a visit to Arenas Negras or Black Sands, which is a trail that starts from El Portillo Visitor Center, climbs up the Montaña del Cerrillar, and offers some of the most stunning views of the park.
4. Las Teresitas Beach
After all that hiking, you and your friends will be asking for a place to relax, then how about a day at the beach? Las Teresitas is one of Tenerife’s most famous beaches, with its golden sand brought from the Sahara and its crystal clear, calm waters.
The best part of this is that the beach is situated in a perfect spot, close to the village of San Andres and close to the center of Santa Cruz on the north side of the island, which makes it the perfect place for a swim and to meet people. I highly recommend that you visit it in the morning since the tide is lower and the waves are smaller.
Here you can lie in the sun, play beach volleyball, or enjoy a picnic while listening to the waves. If you like snorkeling, you can do it here or head to Las Gaviotas Beach, which is nearby and ideal for snorkeling and similar activities. And to round off the day, enjoy a cold beer at one of the nearby beach bars.
5. Tapas Tour in La Laguna
If there’s one thing that brings a group of friends together, it’s food, and in Spain, tapas is the way to go! But while in Tenerife, there’s no better option for a tapas tour than the World Heritage City of San Cristobal de La Laguna.
Here you and your friends can try typical dishes like papas arrugadas con mojo (wrinkled potatoes with mojo sauce), grilled cheese, or gofio while strolling through its streets packed with history. The place is easy to walk in, and it’s home to several bars and restaurants, as well as other stores. Eating well, laughing a lot, and enjoying Canarian cuisine is a sure plan!
Many are the reasons that make Tenerife the best option to visit with friends, it’s an island packed with adventure, good food, a good nightlife, and relaxation, but adding visits to iconic places like Loro Parque, Siam Park, and Mount Teide makes the visit ten times better. Each plan offers something unique to make the trip unforgettable.
So, what are you waiting for? Plan your getaway, gather your squad, and get ready to live incredible experiences on this paradise island.
