The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station, slated to open in late 2019, will be the centerpiece of a $187 million family entertainment complex in downtown St. Louis. The aquarium (with more than 13,000 animals from freshwater and marine environments around the world) and other attractions are being built under the 500,000-square-foot train shed at Union Station, a National Historic Landmark. The site will include a 200-foot-tall observation wheel with 42 gondolas, carousel, 18-hole mini golf course, ropes course and three restaurants.
