Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, Anthem of the Seas, just christened April 20 in Southampton, U.K., once again takes innovative cruise ship design to new levels. Sailing on Mediterranean and Canary Islands cruises departing from Southampton through this October, Anthem of the Seas will then move to her permanent home, Cape Liberty Cruise Port in November. Continuing with Royal Caribbean’s onboard innovations, Anthem of the Seas also has some new firsts, including We Will Rock You. Yes, Anthem Rocks!
Tony Award Winning Musical onboard – We Will Rock You
The smash hit musical, We Will Rock You, which features the greatest hits of the legendary British rock group, Queen, is onboard. Written by Ben Elton, British comedian, who brings a hilarious twist to this award winning phenomenon, We Will Rock You is built around 24 of Queen’s greatest hit tunes – “We Are the Champions,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” and of course, “We Will Rock You.”
We Will Rock You tells the story of a group of Bohemians who are struggling to restore a free exchange of live music, fashion and thoughts in the distant future, where everyone thinks, dresses and does the same. Rock music is forbidden, as is music and composers. The timeless rock ballads of Queen have made this a worldwide sensation musical since first opening in May 2002.
Anthem of the Seas Lets You Fly, Skate and More
RipCord by iFly™ , which first debuted on Quantum of the Seas as the first skydiving experience at sea, is also onboard Anthem of the Seas. This safe, controlled environment lets people enjoy the thrills of skydiving, whether it’s their first time or they’re experienced.
The largest indoor active space at sea, SeaPlex provides fun and diverse options for both adults and children. There’s a roller rink, circus school, bumper cars and more. All these fun activities are complimentary, by the way.
The Bionic Bar – Yes, a Robot Can Make Your Drink
The Bionic Bar takes the experience of ordering a cocktail or drink to a new level. Using high technology, robotic bartenders actually make guests’ drinks, and part of the fun is watching them do the work.
Multi- Dimensional, State of the Art Entertainment
In addition to We Will Rock You, the Royal Theater is also home to Anthem of the Seas’ other main show, The Gift. Music Hall offers guests a chance to dance the night away by providing the hottest live music venue at sea. Two70 combines live performers with technology coming together for spectacular, multi-dimensional shows and events.
North Star, which first debuted on Quantum of the Seas, lets guests enjoy panoramic views for 300 feet above sea level. And FlowRider surf simulator lets guests take to the waves in a new way while also enjoying the scenic ocean views.
Diverse Dining Venues along with Dynamic Dining Choice or Classic
The best way to describe dining onboard Anthem of the Seas? Diverse options with a fresh approach. With the new Dynamic Dining experience onboard, guests can enjoy 18 different restaurants and dining options. Guests have the opportunity to select Dynamic Dining Classic, designed for more a traditional dining experience – same dining time, table and table mates. Or they can select Dynamic Dining Choice, which allows them to decide where, when and with whom they want to dine with each evening.
Laid back, casual selections along with main dining restaurants provide diverse culinary choices. Also onboard are Signature specialty restaurants (where a surcharge applies). Anthem of the Seas also has some partnerships with world-renowned chefs. These include Michael Schwartz and Jamie Oliver along with cookbook author and chef, Devin Alexander, and her Devinly Decadance at Solarium Bistro.
