Ireland –The 800-year-old Abbey Quarter in the center of Kilkenny is undergoing a $113 million redevelopment. Its centerpiece is a new linear park running along the banks of the River Nore. In recent years, Kilkenny has unearthed its medieval center and established a historic walkway known as Ireland’s Medieval Mile, a discovery trail running through the heart of the city. Steeped in history, Kilkenny has been home to the monks of St. Francis Abbey and world-famous Smithwicks Brewery, which was located under the majestic 12th century Kilkenny Castle and overlooked by St. Canice’s Cathedral. The old Brewhouse will be transformed into a modern office complex wrapped around an atrium.
