June 2012 Edition of Leisure Group Travel

The fifth annual Group Itinerary Planning Guide highlights June’s Leisure Group Travel, featuring 37 sample itineraries submitted by CVBs and other tourism organizations.

Divided into Midwest, South, Northeast, West and Canada, the guide provides day-by-day details on trips that tour planners may wish to offer their groups. Destinations range from Norfolk and Gettysburg to Milwaukee and Wisconsin Dells. A full page is devoted to each itinerary.

The cover story spotlights 10 great rail journeys in North America, including excursion trains through the mountains of West Virginia and popular Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada routes.

“West Virginia Sampler” by managing editor Randy Mink highlights group-friendly attractions around the state with an eye on history, Civil War lore and the state’s sesquicentennial in 2013.

Featured destinations in the West are Montana’s Glacier Country tourism region, most famous for Glacier National Park, and Washington’s Wenatchee Valley and its apple-growing industry.

Also in the June issue, readers will explore Iowa’s river cities and must-see attractions in Washington, DC. Canada coverage focuses on Edmonton, Alberta. The article on “Eastern Waterways” looks at some river and coastal cruise options in the Northeast.
