The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) today announced that Atlantic City Tourism District Commander Thomas R. Gilbert will receive the 2017 Spirit of Hospitality Award during this year’s Atlantic City Host Awards on May 3.

Presented each year, the Spirit of Hospitality Award is bestowed upon an outstanding individual who has made a long-lasting and significant contribution to the Atlantic City region’s hospitality and tourism industry.  The award embodies the recipient’s spirit and dedication to serving the millions of visitors who come to Atlantic City.

Since September 2011, Gilbert has served as District Commander of the Atlantic City Tourism District, a position designated by the governor, attorney general and New Jersey State Police superintendent. In this role, Commander Gilbert has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of a multi-layered, cohesive “Clean and Safe” public safety strategy for Atlantic City, designed to improve the quality of life for residents, workers and visitors. In addition, he has partnered with public and private stakeholders at the local, county, state and federal levels, resulting in coordinated efforts to stabilize and improve Atlantic City’s neighborhoods and public spaces. These initiatives have helped to build public confidence, strengthen tourism and attract investment to the Atlantic City Tourism District.
