New Tour Spotlights Chicago Skyscrapers
The Chicago Architecture Foundation has introduced “Skyscraper Express,” a one-hour, 45-minute bus tour that presents the Chicago skyline from unique perspectives.
Tour members will see Grant Park, the Museum Campus and Millennium Park, plus emerging residential neighborhoods and commercial development. They will learn about the impact of Lake Michigan, Chicago River, the railroads and public transportation systems on the growth of the city and hear stories of architects, landscape architects, developers, city planners and civic leaders who played key roles in shaping the downtown, lakefront parks, riverfront enhancements and skyscraper plazas.
At three stops passengers will get off the bus and view the skyline and the skyscrapers, from historic to modern. The tour is offered at 1:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. (312-922-3432, http://caf.architecture.org)
