Philadelphia is a shopper’s paradise with dozens of brand name shops, department stores, designer discount outlets, one-of-a-kind boutiques and unique shopping districts. Plus, it’s a real bargain with no tax on clothing or shoes! To help groups save even more, the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB) has created the “Phil Your Bags” discount voucher program. Now in its third year, this passport-size booklet offers discounts at Philadelphia’s biggest retail malls, outlets, and department stores, plus a variety of restaurants and area attractions.
“We are pleased to offer the booklet as a promotional customer incentive for tour operators,” said Fritz Smith, vice president of tourism, PCVB. “It provides an added value and lets their groups save even more money during their visit to Philadelphia.”
The vouchers are valid through April 2009. Vouchers for shopping discounts include locations such as the King of Prussia Mall, the largest retail shopping complex in the U.S.A.; Philadelphia Premium Outlets, featuring more than 150 designer outlets; Franklin Mills, with 200 value and designer stores all under one roof; Macy’s Center City, a flagship store, located in the historic John Wanamaker building; The Bellevue, featuring elegant shops in a Beaux Arts building, and more. Discounts offered at participating restaurants include: Irish Pub, Philadelphia Fish and Company, the Mexican Post, and World Café Live. Attraction discounts include Lights of Liberty Show, North Bowl Lounge and Lanes, and the American Helicopter Museum.
“Phil Your Bags” also includes hours of operation, Web sites, and location information with a map of participating venues. The booklet is only available through tour operators and travel agents. A preview version can be downloaded at www.philadelphiausa.travel/philyourbags, using the username and password, “philyourbags.”
