December 2015 Leisure Group Travel

The annual Industry Forecast issue of Leisure Group Travel spotlights some of the travel community’s most creative minds and most appealing conference opportunities.

“Rule Breakers – 10 Planners to Follow” looks at people around the country who have carved out a niche for themselves in the marketplace. One operator specializes in motorcycle tours, another in young, urban, African-American consumers.

The feature “6 Trade Shows That Should Be On Your Radar” provides snapshots of 2016 confabs, from Adventure Travel Trade World Summit in Alaska to World Travel Mart London. Another article previews the pre-FAM trips awaiting Travel South Showcase delegates in North Carolina next year.

Getting the most out of FAM trips on European river cruises, one of the hottest segment in group travel these days, is the subject of a column by marketing guru Mike Marchev. Managing editor Randy Mink takes readers on a springtime cruise to Holland and Belgium, reporting on highlights in ports like Amsterdam, Veere, Arnhem, Hoorn and Antwerp.

To get readers in the holiday mood, “Christmastime in the City” shows how Chicago puts on its festive best from late November through New Year’s. Also in the Midwest, check out “South Dakota’s Great 8” and “Nebraska’s Pioneer Past.”

All kinds of farm visit opportunities are showcased in “Agritourism is Cropping Up All Over Arizona,” while the article on “Traveling Western Tennessee’s Cotton Junction Trail” veers off the beaten path to focus on small towns brimming with charm. Planners who like to include festivals in their itineraries will get some good ideas in “Celebrating Maryland’s Ethnic Mosaic.”
