Australis Announces New Ship and Sales Force
Chile-based Australis Cruise Lines, with ships that sail in the Patagonia region of South America, has announced the 2018 introduction of a new ship and a new U.S. sales force.
The Ventus Australis, beginning service Jan. 2, is similar in size to the current Stella Australis, offering 100 cabins and a capacity of 210 passengers. All are outside cabins with large windows to ensure the best views. The ship’s length, beam and engine power allow for the maneuverability needed to navigate across the narrow channels and fjords where no other cruises can venture. These waterways include the Strait of Magellan and Beagle Channel.
Australis CEO Pedro del Río said, “Construction has gone according to plan and we are looking forward to the launch of our new ship, which was especially designed to sail the southern channels. We have paid careful attention to every detail to provide our passengers with a unique experience in the Chilean-Argentinian Patagonia, while ensuring that they enjoy maximum comfort and world-class service.”
Directing the new U.S. sales force, Felipe Castro comes to Australis from his former position as GSA with Marriott International in Chile, sales and customer director with Turismo Cocha (the largest travel agency in Chile) and commercial director with LAM (now Latam) Airlines. He explains, “Our new sales force gives us coverage across the country with five seasoned professionals who will increase our exposure among the travel trade and assist agents and tour operators with bookings and promotion. These reps will ensure that travelers looking for discovery will have in-depth information about the beguiling and largely unexplored destination of Patagonia.”
Chris Hanna (firstname.lastname@example.org) will be responsible for sales in the Northeast; Kathy Simpson (email@example.com) in the Southeast; Chris Ventura (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Midwest;
Steven Bass (email@example.com) in the Southwest; and Jeffrey Tsai (firstname.lastname@example.org) on the West Coast. Agents and tour operators are encouraged to reach out to them with any questions regarding the routes, schedules and other information.
