Written by Administrator
Kansas City’s historic Midland Theatre, after a $28-million makeover, will reopen Sept. 9 with a concert by Melissa Etheridge, whose hometown is nearby Leavenworth, Kan. The former vaudeville palace will become the indoor live entertainment hub of the new eight-block Kansas City Power & Light District. The 80-year-old theater has been renamed The Midland by AMC. Features include a banquet room called Windows on Main; the Chandelier Bar, located on the upper balcony with a full-circle bar and cabaret-style show seating; and the Indie on Main, a ground-level space with a bar and lounge-style seating. Upcoming acts include Journey, Sept. 15; Anita Baker, Sept. 20, Vince Gill, Sept. 21; George Lopez, Oct. 12; and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Nov. 13-16. (www.midlandkc.com)
