Day 1 Afternoon: The Famous Boardwalk
Songs have been written about it. Movies have been filmed about it. Legends have been made on it. Since its inception in the 1800s, the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk has been the epicenter of entertainment and people-watching in Atlantic City since 1870.
Stroll the old wooden way and enjoy your favorite Boardwalk foods from funnel cake to corn dogs. You will find the entrances to Central Pier, Steel Pier and Garden Pier scattered along more than four miles of Boardwalk. A seemingly endless array of restaurants, retail shops, casinos and unique attractions make it impossible to be bored on the Boardwalk. From a yearly marathon, triathlons, surfing and volleyball competitions to the one-and-only Miss America Parade, the Boardwalk will have everyone yelling more than “Show us your shoes!”
But occasionally the weather has a different plan. When walking the boards is not the best option, you can always step inside your favorite casino, which all feature many options to keep you entertained. Or perhaps you’ll be fortunate enough to catch a matinee at the IMAX Theater at The Quarter at Tropicana, which can transport you to another place and time for the afternoon. Featuring large format films in both 2D and 3D, IMAX Theater features the latest Hollywood blockbusters and you can even plan your own private party for your family and friends. For the more adventurous, Chickie & Petes on the Boardwalk at Tropicana features a two-story bar and restaurant with a game room stocked with the latest in games for all age levels.

With luminaries like Bobby Flay, Wolfgang Puck, Guy Fieri and Gordon Ramsay, finding a famous name in Atlantic City is not a problem. The focal point of the Rose Walk is a bronze statue of Bert Parks, host of the Miss America competition from 1955 to 1980, located in the Rose Garden at Sheraton Hotel. Visitors can take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity by posing under the crown in the statue’s outstretched hands as a motion sensor triggers the playing of the pageant’s traditional theme song, “There She Is, Miss America,” through an enhanced digital sound system.
Located on the Boardwalk, the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum is a fascinating look into the world of the bizarre and unusual. From Vlad the Impaler to shrunken heads to the girl down the well, you’ll find new oddities, wondrous exhibits and family-fun adventures around every turn.

Offering exciting tales of the Jersey Devil, pirates and more, the haunted animated theater will have you not just watching the story but experiencing it. Then, for the brave of heart, take on the coffin ride and experience the sights, sounds and smells of being buried alive. Only a few are brave enough to make it through the entire ride.
